Red Doors in Tangra City

A small teaser to an upcoming project.
During the stay in Kolkata, India, I tried to get in contact with the chinese population of the city. The city is divided into an old and a new Chinatown, one based at Tiretta Bazar and the newer one at Tangra. One of the earliest records of immigrants from China can be dated back to 1820. The first immigrants are Hakka people. Hakka can be translated into "guest" or "guest family". From interviews with local people the chinese population are working in the field of tannery and offering chinese cuisine. From a population over nearly 20,000 people nowadays the amount has been reduced to approximately 1000 people due to the fact that the younger generations are migrating to different countries like Canada oder Sweden.
